It’s time to turn your day dreams into a TRUE FUCKING REALITY!
I’m teaching a course for Theatre Ontario at Queens University (Kingston, ON) from August 4 to 9, 2019 as apart of the Summer Theatre Intensive.
devised theatre for intersectional artists
Devised Theatre for Intersectional Artists is an adaptive course created to meet creative and learning goals present in the room. It is a space for intersectional artists to freely explore unconventional ideas, whether rooted in lost or targeted traditions, or inspired by experiences pushed to the edge. It's a week of exploring collective and individual ways to develop stories, working with a creative ensemble, games, reflections, and trying, failing, and trying again. It's an honest and open space where folks can acknowledge and work through the truths of their experiences, stories, and arts practices. Come with an inkling of a story, or a blank canvas; with formal training or without. Wear comfy clothes. Eat yummy food. Share painful puns. Participate in a collaborative, shared-leadership style of working. Leave the course a few steps deeper into your creative work, and a few ideas on a way forward.
Live your truest otaku self and create the next greatest live action anime, or come with a blank canvas and dive into your imagination! Either way, you’ll have a group of cool-hip sailor scouts to back you up as you fight evil by moonlight, and win love by daylight. (I’m Sailor Mars. Or Pluto. Or Saturn. Or Uranus. Or Neptune.)
Not sure if this course is what you’re looking for? Ask me anything!
